12 SUDDEN DEATH ENDS LIFE MARKED BY TRAGEDIES North Carolinian Killed Man and Lost Three Wives and Four Children. By the Associated Press, i CHARLOTTE, N. C., April 3.—An extraordinary series of tragedies and sorrows marked the life of Thomas W. Dixon, local hardware merchant and for the last fifteen years secre- tary and treasurer of the North and South Carolina Hardware Dealers’ Association, who died suddenly while making a purchase in a drug store here yesterday. Several years ago Mr. Dixon acci- dentally shot and killed a customer ‘who had brought a pistol to the store for inspection. Mr. Dixon's second wife and their two children were burned to death | when their home was destroyed by fire in his absence.
