D NEW METHODIST | PASTORS EXPECTED April Conference Likely to’ | Make Appointments at Mc- Kendree and Waugh. Bishop William F. McDowell of this iz holding a series of annual con- nces this month throughout his a. Last week he conducted the Central Pennsylvania Conference in Williamsport. This week he is hold- ing the Washington Conference, col- ored, at Ames Memorial Church, Bal- timore. He will conduct the Wil- mington Conference at Wilmington, Trel, next Wednesday, and will pre- side over the Baltimore Conference April 2 Includes District Chureh The Methodist Episcopal churches of | the District of Columbia are embraced | thy Baltimore Annual Conference. The s ions will be held in Harlem | Park Church, Baltimore. Two of the | churches here will have new pastors | appointed at the close of the confer- ence, namely: Waugh Church, which | is. without a p; or, and McKendree, | where Rev. C. A. It is likely that me limit of six years, which was| removed from the office of district superintendent by the General Con- ference of 1920, will be restored by ne next General Conference. There is ro probability that a time limit will be restored to the pastors of the Meth- cdist Episcopal Church. Attempts will be made to reduce the number ©f benevolent boards and to simplify the machinery for the benevolent and educational programs of the church. The new plan for Methodist unifi- eation with the Methodist Episcopal Church South will, it is thought, re- ceive hearty approval by the General Conference. Few Changes in Bishopries. It is thought that very few changes ‘will be made in the board of bishops. Among the bishops who will retire on age limit will be Bishop Frank M. Eristol of Chattanooga, who was elected to the esiscopacy after ten Years as pastor in Metropolitan Me- morial Church. Bishop Bristol has indicated his purpose to make his residence in Washington after his re- tirement. Bishop Willlam Burt of Fuffalo, who has given to the church many years of constructive service in Jtaly and in America, will also be re- tired on age limit. He will take up residence in Massachusetts. On liness, it Is probable that William 'A. Quayle and Ho- tuntz will be placed on the Tetired list. Successors to these may he brought from the foreign field, 15 avoiding the necessity of elect- ing additional bishops. An earnest effort will be made by the four an- Tual conferences of the Washington area to retain the services of Bishop William F. McDowell, the resident bishop. Wil Study World Program. One of the most important interests svhich will have careful consideration by the General Conference will be the world service program of Methodism. A survey has been made by the sev- eral benevolent and educational | Toards showing the need of $28,500,- r for the next ten years. The | of boards has asked the con- ces and local churches for $18, for the first year of the world service program.
