It was explained at the meeting last evening that the District of Co- lumbia branch of the soclety is not limited to those who served in 1898 as members of the 1st District of Co- lumbia Infantry, United States volun- toers, nor to officers of the Spanish- American war. All who served— both officers and enlisted men—in Cuba during_the period of hostilities are eligible Tor membership. Of the foregoing any persons now residing in the District of Columbia, no mat- ter what organization they served with during the war with Spain, efther regular or volunteer, may en- roll as members of the District of Columbia branch. Corp. Francis H. elght, who served overseas with a detachment of Keystone Division, Pennsylvania infantry, in four en- gagements on the western front in France during the world war, died at Emergency Hospital early today. He was found unconsclous in his apartment, in the Naples, 713 19th street northwest, by, his mother, Mrs. l,lnuiu Fallon, two hours before he died. The deceased, a native of Connec- ticut, enlisted in Pennsylvania for war service, and although he was at the front in four active engagements he escaped being wounded. He was gassed, however, and never fully re- covered from the dangerous expe- rience. Following his return to this country he obtained a clerical position in the War Department. He had been a patient in Walter Reed Hospital and later was under the care of a private physician. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lulu Fallon, and a child four months old.
