Speclal Dispatch to The St NEW YORK, October 18.—Extreme irregularity prevailed in today's bond | market, with continued good Inquiry for some investment issues and re- action in the more speculative de- | scriptions. It was a market that proved con- fusing to investors and speculators like. The most encouraging devel- opment was in the good absorption of new Issues, notable among today's offerings, of which were the Alabama Power first and refunding 6s, Repub- le of Finland 6s. American Public ervice 6128, and Italian Power Col- lateral Trust 63%s. It will take a lit- tle time to demonstrate how well these bonds have been placed, but opinion is that there has been a minimum of speculative buying. Most Noticeable Reactlons. Many small and poor ducks are on the market, but the demand for them is small, at de- creased prices. Live ducks were queted at from 20 to 25 cents, while dressed stock brought from 28 to 35 cents. There are plenty cholce chickens on the market, some from nearby and others from distant points. Dealers quoted live chickens at from 30 to 32 cents and dressed stock at from 32 to 35 cents. Only a few turkeys have been re- ceived by local dealers and there is practically no demand for them. It is probable that the demand will be Hght until the approach of the Thanksgiving holiday season. Prices range from 40 cents for live turkeys to 45 and 48 cents for dressed stock.
