N, retired, died suddenly yester- day at his nome, 1721 Euclid street northwest, aged seventy-one years The funeral will be held Saturday at i1 o'clock from Washington Helght: Presbyterian Church, of which he wa: a communicant. The interment will be in Arlington National cemetery with military and Masonic honors. Mrs ‘McLaughlin was a native o Maine. He had served in the Nav: for many vears, and was retired at the age of sixty-two yvears. At the out- break of the world war he re-entered the service and_was stationed at the Washington navy yard, from which he was recently retired. In -1873 he served aboard the Franklin, and later was on duty on the Hartford, Waus- chette, New Hampshire and Trenton, and was a member of the crew of the latter vessel when she was wrecked In the Samoan Islands by a tidal wave in 1889. In 1903 he served on the Newark in Cuban waters during the in- surrection of that year. He was a member and a past officer of the Mill- tary Order of the World War, a thirty-third-degree Mason and a mem< ber of Dawson Lodge. He had made Washington his home for the past thir- ty years, twenty-three years of that {me being stationed at the local navy yard He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Theodora North McLaughlin; two daughters and one son, Mrs Robert B. |Handy of Washington, Mrs. Roger M.
