CHICAGO, ~October, 11L—Whatever motive there may be behind Chi- cago's knockdown and drag out wet- dry fight, the most spectacular fight any large city in the country has ever scen, one fact stands out to- day—that is that Mayor Willlam Dover intends to make the second largest clty In the United States as dry as the driest small town. As a matter of incontrovertible fact, Chicago, which in the pre-Vol- stead days had 7,000-odd saloons— more per capita than any other city in the world—already ie drier than time fn its history. CHICAGO, October 11.—Ex-service women with disabilitles now may be admitted to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers on the same basls as ex-service men, ac- cording to announcement here of the Women's Overseas Service League. The announcement has been au- | thorized by the Secretary of War that the board of managers of the National Soldiers’ Homae, in session at Dayton, Ohlo, ordered separate build- ings set aside at the branch of the home at Danville, IlL, and separate facilities at the Tuberculosis Hospi- tal at Milwaukee, for the treatment of ex-service women. Heretofore the women have been entitled to the same compensation as men - in cases of disability arising from service. Under the new ruling disability need not have been incur- red In service and may be the result of old age as well as sickness.
