- GOV.MCRAY ASKS 8 DELAY OF INQURY 6. 0. P Committee Has Plans Laid; However, for Meet- A ing on Monday. By the Associated Press. INDIANAPOLIS, _September 26.— Gov, McCray has requested Clyde A. Walb, republican. state chairman, to delay the meeting of the state com- mittee called for Monday to consider the financial affairs of the executive and ~what course the party should pureue in the matter. Mr. Walb said the governor explained that he would be reayired to he out of the 'city Monday because bf some Ppivate busi- ness affairs and' wanted the session delayed about.ten days. Mr. Walb said. he replied that all the Dlans for the session had been made and it would be difficult to 4OStpone. inasm as Postmaster General Harry S. New had planned to coms to Indianapolis from Wash- ington to attend the committee meet- ings aad all the a: ct chairmen had arranged to assemble on that day. I toiled with conspicuous ar- dor, and went to the bank with the tin, and now I have pies in my larder, and bacon and spuds in the bin. And fellows who blew in their earnings, who squandered desirable dough, are busted and sick with their yearnings for comforts they never shall know. All day through the streets they are drilling, and seeking, from dawn until dark, some jo that will bring them a shilling, some graft that will yield them a mark. 1 see them, the weary old walkers, I'see them and pity them all; for they should be perched in their rockers, each one in his opu- lent hall. In beds that are silken and classy they all should,be able to snore; they all should be chipper and ‘sassy, with never a wolf at the door. If people would save in life’s summer , life's winter would find them sérene, with bundles of coin that a plumber might view and with envy turn green. Alas, it is idle, this preaching, my sermons have al- ways been spurned; the people are seeking and reaching for new ways to blow what they've earned. (Copyright.) {’\ LT MASON.
