IR P N ‘l. | By the Assoclated Press. CHICAGO, July 21.—A plan to with- draw 200,000,000 bushels of wheat from the market and store it on farme unti] prices advance !s announced by President O. E. Bradfute of the Amer- ican Farm Bureau Federation. The farm bureau plan provides for financing the project under the new intermediate credit act, by which Nr. Bradfute estimated $660.000,000 could be made avallable to lend to farmers for storing their surpluses. He esti- mated that $1560,000,000 would be am- ple to store 200,000,000 bushels of wheat and thereby remove it from the market. Mr. Bradfute declared that farm wheat bins, under the intermediate credit act, might be designated as government bonded warehouses, for which bonded warehouse recelpts could be issued agalnst wheat stored on the farm. The Farm Bureau Federation, Pres- ident Bradfute sald, expected to ad vance its plan through its state farm bureaus. The withdrawal of 200,000,000 bush- els of wheat from the market and the locking it up under government seal in farm warehouses, President Brad- fute said, will have an immediate ef- fect on prices. The plan, except in a few sections is not ready to function, he said. WORLD ALLIANCE OF BAPTISTS MEET Thousands of Delegates Gather in Stockholm Plan New State- ment of Principles. By the Associated Press. STOCKHOLM, July 21.—The third congress of the Baptist world alliance, which began its sessions today, brings together the leading figures of the Baptist denomination throughout the world. The congress will issue a new declaration of Baptist principles and will take a definite stand on & num- ber of important world issues, The European delegates, excluding the Scandanavian countries, number nearly 300 and these with the repre- sentatives from North and South America, Asia and Africa bring the total to several thousands. The recent death of Rev. R. S. Mac- Arthur of New York has vacated the presidency and considerable interest hinges on the selection of his succes- sor. The congress will begin business sessions Monday, the opening being marked by an address by King Gustav. One of the main subjects to be con- sidered {s the report of a commission headed by E. Y. Mullins of Louisville, Ky., which formulates a pronounce- ment of the Baptist fundamental rinciples and a restatement of the ptist position. — ARRIVAL IS CHEERFUL. McCormicks Reach Chicago Amid Lively Scene at Station. CHICAGO, July 21.—Harold F. Mo- Cormick, the Harvester magnate, and Mme. Ganna Walska McCormick, his opera singer wife, arrived home from Europe yesterday to the accom- paniment of popping flash-lights and volleys of questions from would-be interviewers. “Thank you so much for coming to meet us,” Mr. McCormick said to re- porters, as he made a dash with his wite for his secretary. “We have nothing to say today. You'll please excuse us.” The secretary took in- stant charge of the party and led them straight into a nest of ready- to-flash_photographers in the train shed. The flashes and smoke ap- parently unnerved the party, and from then on it was a polite free-for- all until the McCormicks, his secre- tary, her m.id and the chauffeur were ensconced in the family limousine Then Mr. McCormick waved his hand t the reporters, Mrs. McCormick smiled at the photographers, flash- lights boomed, the chauffeur stepped on the gas and the McCormicks went home again. They will stay here for the summer,-according -4o0-reports.
