FUNDS TO REBUILD OCCOQUAN URGED Board of Charities to Present Esti- mate for Construction' of - Permanent Quarters. Additional funds to carry forward the rebuilding of Occoquan . will be| included in the new ‘estimates ‘of the board of charities for the fiscal year 1925, Practically all of the exlsting struc- tures at the workhouse are of frame, and Capt. John E. Wood, assistant engineer commissioner, and George S. Wilson, secretary to the board of charities, are now working out a de- tailed scheme for the erection of per- manent quarters, A small allotment to begin the re- construction of this penal institution was allowed by Congress in the cur- rent appropriation act. Just how much more will be sought in the new estimates has not been made known. Capt., Wood, recently took the mem- bers of the Fine Arts Commission w' Occoquan and outlined to them the contemplated scheme for improving both the workhouse and the District reformatory at Lorton, Va. a short distance from Occoquan, The new estimates for the various charitable and correctional institu- tions will be conservative, containing no _projects not already under way. “ommissionery have $100,000 in nt act to begin erection of the home for feeble-minded persons as soon as a site is selected. This is only one-third of the amount needed, however, and a second instaliment will be asked for in the new budget. ABING DEATH FOUND NOT DUE TO POISON ‘Widow and V. Navarro Absolutely Exonerated of Suspicion by Doctor’s Analysis. Mrs. Eunice Adeline Abing and Vicente Navarro were absolutely ex- onerated from any suspicion in con- nection with the death of Cleto M. Abing, husband of the woman. on June 23 at his home, 2225 New York avenue, when a coroner's jury Tues- day returned a verdict of death from intestinal tuberculosis at an inquest in the District morgue. * Dr. T. M. Price, District chemist, testified that post-mortem analysis of the contents of the stomach of the deceased which was started last week while Mrs. Abigg and- Navarro were being detained by the police, showed absolutely no trace of any poisonous substance that would result in death from other than natural-causes. In addition, it was testified, the post-mortem 'analysis confirmed the diagnosis of Dr. Hornaday, who signed the death certificate with tuberculosis of the intestines cited as the cause, by presenting positive roof that the deceased was affiicted v such a disease. Detective E. Kelly testified re- gaxding the po investigation and Mrs. Abing and Navarro also took the stand for voluntary statements. The coroner’'s jury was out for a very short time before returning the ver- dict that completely exonerated them from any connection with the death. e : : v Curtain! fi Tomorrow we expect to ring down the cur- tain on our ; Sale of i Stetson ‘ p', Fiber Striped Madras » Shirts $1.55 } It's been a great sale—days of rous- ing business, of sat- isfied purchasers, of thousands of ‘shirts | moving out to men now smartly shirted. h And we say what we said in the begin- ning, that right down to the last i shirt the choice is as good as_it was when the cases were first opened.
