Elaborate Plans Made. With two delegates each from all of the hundred clubs scattered throughout the United States certain to be present, those in charge of the convention of the International As- sociation of Civitan Clubs, which con- venes next Tuesday morning at the Wardman Park Hotel for a three-day session, are confident that more than 1.000 persons in all will be in Wash- ington during the conference. Elaborate preparations have been completed by committees of the local club for the entertainment of the visitors, and with the co-operation of other civic-betterment organizations of the city the Civitans are looking to one of the most successful conven- tions ever held by the organization. A question of national policy and of the control of the officlal maga- zine o fthe organization, the Civitan. will be two of the more important problems to be taken up at the con- vention. . The Civitan Club of Chattanooga, one of the most active in the asso- ciation, has given formal notice of its intention to introduce a resolution providing the assoclation adopt as part of its national pol a nation- wide campaign of education on the general international situation, em- phasizing those features which have a direct bearing on American life Chattanooga Civitans assert an un- derstanding of foreign affairs is es- sential to the qualifications of a well- informed American citizen. That the advisability of adopting this sugges- tion will be contested is assured. The magazine question will come up in the form of a proposed amend- ment to the constitution. It provides that control of the publication be vested in a board of editors, and everything going into the magazine receive the unanimous approval of this board. e MOTHER OF 12 JAILED.
