In this connection he points out that “at the present time, no matter what the sal- ary of the employe is at the date of retirement, and -although they may pay 2% per cent of their salary as a premium to the retirement fund, they are only allowed the small plittance of $60 a month as a pension.” Representative Boylan is expe- rienced§n pension matters and speaks with authority, having passed the city employes’ retirement bill which is working satisfactorily .to the city of New York. He has made a special study of re- tirement acts and s hopeful of secur- ing the enactment of a suitable re- tirement bill giving all federal em- ployes a “square deal,” he says. He is a hard-headed business man, a8 one must well be to be as success ful as Representative Boylan has been in the real estate business on Broad- way, New York. Also he stands well having served in the New York se ate on two special committees on ta ation, having been ranking demo- cratic member of the finance commit- tee and chairman of the democratic caucus committee.
