Gouvern- A pretty wedding was that last eve- ning of Miss Alice Marle Watts and Mr. linier Hostetler, which took place at 8 o'clock in St. Margaret's Church. The Rev. Dr. Herbert Scott- Smith, rector of the church, officiated in the presence of a large company. Easter decorations of lilies and palms were used and made an effective back- ground for the delicate tints of the Bowns of the bride’s attendants. The bride, who was éscorted and given in marriage by her father, Mr. Claude Samuel Watts, wore a gown of ivory satin, draped with Duchesse lace and chiffon, the bodice made with long sleeves and the neck finished with Duchesse lace. Draperies of chiffon fell & piont from below the hem and a court or train of satin had tiny clusters of orange blossoms, sent the bride from Texas. ~Her tulle vell was held with a bandeau of the orange blossoms and she carried white lilacs and sweet peas. Mrs. William Hamilton Knox was matron of honor, and wore French blue crepe roma trimmed with hemstitching and girdle of silver, the ends of the girdle falling to the hem of the skirt, and she carried pink roses. snap- dragons and sweet peas. The two bridesmaids were Miss Imogen Hos- tetler, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss 'Jean Jussen of Berkeley, Calif. They wore similar gowns of peach color crepe de chine trimmed with cream color Spanish lace, and carried butterfly roses, blue sweet peas and larkspur. Mr. John Scharf was best man for Mr. Hostetler, and the ushers were Mr. William ' Hamiiton Knox, Mr. Athur Buell, Mr. Edward Pardoe and Mr. Martin Wiegand. Miss Mae Norwood sang Beethoven's “Dear Pride of My Heart” preceding the ceremony. At the_reception after the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Watts and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hostetler, parents of > and bridegroom, received. The Soclety of Soclal Psychology has issued invitations for the leoture, and those who attend will include mem- bers of the staffs of the legations of central Europe. Mrs. Frederic Tracy Millham an- nounces the engagement of her daughter Tracy to Mr. Thomas Eg- gery Lunt of Rochester, N. Y. Miss Millham is the daughter of the late Fred T. Millham of Waterbury, Conn. Mr. Lunt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. 8. Lunt and a graduate of Yale, '22. The opening of the American Legion ball at the New Willard ballrooms Fri- day night will be marked by ceremony that s expected to add to the impressiveness of the occasion. As the lights in the ballrooms are extinguished a spotiight will be thrown on a large slik American flag, flung to the breezes, in the south end of the main ballroom and the United States Marine Band will strike up “The Star Spangled Ban- ner,” while the audience stands at at- tentfon. The ball, which is being given under the auspices of the department of the District of Columbla, is in com- memoration’ of the sixth anniversary of the entrance of the United States in the world war.
