By the Associated Press. DETROIT, February 23.—Possibil- ity that Henry Ford might be in- - dorsed as the party’s presidential can- didate in 1924 overshadowed all other business before Michigan democrats when they met in state convention here today to adopt a platform and nominate candidates for minor state offices to be fllled at the spring elec- tion. Some of the party leaders frankly expressed the fear the proposed Ford indorsement might cause a split and turn the convention from a jollifica- tion over the party’s success last No- vember Into a divided camp. Efforts were made before the con- vention convened to iron out the dif- ferences, leaders holding closed ses- slons for the purpose of deciding upon a course that would assure harmony. Opponents of the proposal felt, it was sald, that presidential indorsement should be left to the primary. The Ford presidential boom came up at the last state democratio con- vention, and for a time it appeared that the party would fall in line, but it was decided not to complicate na- tlonal issues with the flght then at hand—to elect Woodbridge N. Ferris, former_governor, to the Senate. Mr. Ford was selected by Wayne county democrats to head the dele- gation of 137 in today’'s convention, but few expected the manufacturer to appear personally. No statement has been made by Mr. Ford's close friends as to his attitude on the po- litical situation, DAVIS ON TAX BOARD. W. N.
