ASKRIGRT TOVOTE FOR SCHOOL BOARD Sixteenth Street Highlands Citizens Present Method of Choosing Members. Although the right of suffrage is denied the residents of the District of Columbia, this condition should at least be changed so that members of the board of education could be given their offices by direct vote of the people of Washington. Urging this privilege to the fullest extent, the Sixteenth Street Highlands Citi- zens' Association last night went on record against the practice of ap- pointing members of the school board, now in the hands of the District Su- preme Court, and declared the par- ents of the public school children should be given the right to select the board members. The compulsory education clause in school legislation now pending be- fore Congress was heartily favored by the assoolation.
