THE. EVENING. STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C., Buried” Monh Found Alive at St. Elizabeth’s After he had been registered’ as dead and buried a’month on the of- ficial records of the police department, Stanley 'Edward Groves of “Harpera Ferry, W. Va., has been found: very much alive at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. The discovery that Groves did not die here in August leaves the police facing the dificult task of identifying the body that is buried in the Groves! family plot at Keedyavi'ia, Md. -Here is the unusual story of mistaken identity, as unfolded by the police: On August 3 a man was taken sud- denly {ll in theé lobby of the Harris Hotel'and died shortly after:areiving’ at” Casualty Hospital. The body re- mained unidertified at the morgue for a week. On August 9 a nephew of Groves read the description of the dead man in newspapers and thought it coin- clded with that of his uncle, whom he had not seen for a number of years. The police say it was on the strength of this man's visit to the morgue that the body was declared to be that of Edward Grov Mr Groves' rother at Sharpsburg, Md.. had the body sent to Keadysville and buried. A few days ago a woman friend of the Groves family happened to be in St. Elizabeth's Hospital on another mission and saw the man who was belleved dead. Her discovery, was re- porged to the family. The police say they. have definitely eatablished the act that Groves is a patlent at the focat Rospitar » Admitted in July. 7 The records of the sanitary officer of the police department shows that the patient at St. Elizabeth's was sent there in July under the name of Stanley E. Groves. The police had made a photograph of the dead man, and they are send- ing it broadcast today In an effort to identity him. Here is a description of the man whose resemblance to y 5 feet 11 light complexion, mixed inches . tall, gray hair, gray suit, light brown fe- ora hat, white shirt, blue tie, upper false teeth, bamboo cane. lothes bore the tailor mark Co., Rochester, N. .
