They were under guard of Wash- ington county deputy sheriffs and early reports from the mine said there was no disorder. MINERS WOULD WORK. 700 Howat Followers in Kansas Vote to Return. PITTSBURG, Kan. July 6.—Reso- lutions to return to work in the Kan- sas coal mines were adopted at Franklin last night, at a mass meet- ing of 700 miners favorable to the program of Alexander Howat, de-| posed president of the district union. No action was taken at the meet- ing to determine the wage scale un-| der which the miners will return to | work._although the question was brought up from the floor. The chairman said the miners and thelr officials have been expelled from the United Mine Workers of America and the only recourse for their res- toration is to return to work.
