TERRE HAUTE, Ind., June 15.— Owners of four wagon mines in the coal fleld east of Terre Haute indi- cated yesterday that they would not attempt to resume operations unless they can obtain a court injunction to {prevent a recurrence of demonstra- tions against their employas. A crowd of 400 persons called at the mines yesterday, disarmed the guards at one mine and upset loaded coal trucks. One non-union worker was reported to have been beaten. After visiting the mines the crowd Teturned here jfor a parade. UTAH RIOT QUELLED. Killing of Mine Guard Precedes Ordering of Militia. SALT LAKE CITY, June 15.—The killing of a mine guard and the wounding of a mine official by men who shot at a train near Castle Gate in the coal strike area of Utah, re- sulted in the dispatch last night of three units of the National Guard to the scene and the issuance of a proclamation by Gov. Maybey of martial law in the district. The hundred guardsmen comprise a battery and two cavalry troops and will patrol the vicinities of Cameron; Helper, Scofield, the scene of the first disturbance several weeks ago; W ter Quarters, Castle -Gate, Kenil- worth and in the Spring canyon re- glon.
