Today the delegates to the conference and their chief advisers and the higher officials of the State Department are also guests, HE chief interest of the whole nation is centered on the ‘White House today, where the President and Mrs. Hard- ing are holding the first New Year reception to take place there in nine years. For the first period of the reception the President and Mra Harding will receive together and Mrs. Harding may remain ujtil the last guest is received, though that has not been the custom of former first ladies of the land. The Vice Presi- dent and Mrs. Coolidge and the mem- bers of the cabinet and their wives preceded the other guests to the White House and were recelved by the President and Mrs. Harding on the second floor of the mansion, descending the state stairwgdy with them to the blue room, where they formed the nucleus for a large com- pany of assistants. The Vice ent and’ Mrs. Coolidge will be at home informally in their apartment at the New Willard this afternoon from {4 to 6 o'clock. They will have no assistants. The Secretary of War and.
