C, December 27.— Mystery which for months surround- ed the disappearance of B. L. Harsell, wealthy clubman and sporting man of New York, who has been missing since last April, is believed to have been solved with the identification of a body found in the woods of Mitchell county, N. C., as that of the missing clubman. Detective Elmo E. Brim of Colax, Va, reports having tracked the club- man more than 1,500 miles, 240 of which he made on foot through the Appalachian mountains, and claims to have information that Harsell was murdered by parties in the Pigeon Roost creek section of Mitchell county. Upon leaving New York, Mr. Harsell announced he would walk from Roan- oke, Va., to north Georgia for the! purposc of hardening his muscles and | | preparing for a big game hunt in a foreign country, which he contem- plated with other New York clubmen. He was to write his brother each thir- ty days of his whereabouts, and after more than a month had elapsed and no word had been received a hunt was started. Mrs. French is alleged to have re ceived cerwain papers and stocks in Sa Diego wiich were involved in her hus- band's transactions. The direct charge Frerch was using the mails d. and she was held in lieu of s Frer alleged to have operated a clearing house for bogus securities here. | Among those who claimed they were swindled by the Worthington-French combination was Z. W. Davis, a Cleve- land banker. He said he was muleted of $550,000 through bogus notes. Announcement was made December 17, from Funchal that Zita expected to start for Switzerland December 26, she having received official permission to make the trip on account of the illness of her son.
