AMATEURS RADIOOVER SEA Scotland Report Says 18 Wireless Stations on This Side Heard. HARTFORD. Conn., Décember 12.— Eighteen amateur wirele: tations in the eastern part of the United States have succeeded in sending messages across the Atlantic ocean, according to the American Radio Relay League here today. The report was tran mitted nere from Paul Godley, sta- tioned near Glasgow, Scotland, the re- ceiving end in the amateur tests that began last Wednesday and will con- tinue until the coming Frida: Thirteen of the stations heard in Scotland were of the new “continuous wave" type, while flve of the older “spark” stations also were heard. Rourke, controller of currency in the Dominfon government, took his lift tonight by swallowing poison. The controller’s office is the highest post in the Canadian department of finance under civil service regula- tion. Following the discovery of his body government officials made known that for several months Mr.. Rourke had been directing an audit of his de- partment through which discrepancies said to total about $35,000 had been brought to light.
