EXPECTS GREATER LICENSE RECEIPTS Head of Local Office Makes Prediction as to Auto and Other Permits. Revenue from the sale of automobile tags and miscellaneous licenses dur- ing the fiscal year which ends next June will far exceed the receipts for last year, Wade H. Coombs, superin- | tendent of licenses, predicts. Supt. Mr. aomb' said his office yesterday broke all records for the first day of the miscellaneous license year. ‘When the office closed Tuesday night it was found that 528 licenses had been issued, bringing in revenue amounting to $7,805.50. The total in- cluded seventy-seven restaurants, 1562 cigar stores and thirty-seven drug stores. This represents only a small proportion of the number of these establishments, and the license office will be busy for the balance of tie month issuing new permits. There belng no eligibles on existing registers, the,Civil Service Commis- | & sion today announced examinations to fill vacancies in the following posi- tions: Dental assistant, public health service, at $80 a month; laboratory assistant, junior grade, at $1,000 a year; senlor aid, at $900 a year, bu- reau of standards; automotive en- gineer, quartermaster corps, Camp Holabird, Md., at $5,000 a_year; man- ager of fruit and vegetable market, uartermaster corps, Washington, D. .. at $2,000 a year; automobile me- chanic, at $1,800 a year; chauffeur, at $1,300 a year, post office service, Huntington. W. Va.; laboratory at- tendant, public health service, at $900 a year. In addition to the basic sal- aries named above, the bonus of $20 a month will be allowed for most positions the salary of which does not exceed $2,500 a year. From July 1 of this year to Novem- ber 1. Mr. Coombs has issued 10,427 motor tags, netting ihe Disirict $10,- 943. For the corresponding period cf last year he issued only 7,085 tags for $30,862. Advice to Motorists. Supt. Coombs advised motorists not to come to the District building for 1922 tags until notice is given in the news- {papers that the new tags have arrived, which will be about December 1.
