DEMOTED DETECTIVE SEEKS TO BE RETIRED Frank Baur Has Been on Force for Thirty-One Years; Be- fore Board Today. Frank Baur, member of the harbor police squad, who recently suffered an attack of heart disease, fell overboard | and came near being drowned while on duty, this afternoon appeared before the police retiring board at a meeting held in the boardroom of the District building. Baur_served seven years in Uncle Sam's Navy before becoming a member of the police force thirty-one years ago. Twenty-three years of his police serv- ice were spent as a member of the de- rce from which he was de- N | moted several weeks ago. Many friends of the demoted detective appealed to Commissioner Oyster in an effort to have him reinstated, telling of his long service and pointing to his rec- ord in tralling criminals, and last week Baur appealed to Maj. Harry L. Gess- ford, superintendent of police, for rein- statement and retirement. It is probable that the recommenda- tion of the retiring board will be made to the Commissioners tomorrow. \ |[MOTOR BUS HITS WAGON. \| | Driver Charged With Failure to Palm Beach Suits Reduced to $22.50 English Cricket Cloth. $15.00 White Flannel. . ....$15.00 Striped Serge. ......$13.50 White Cheviot Collar Attached Button-down collar and French cuffs —all cut full and roomy.
