Then, when all seemed lost, the hero comes in and assures the audience it's all a joke, a satire, a pure farce, and not to be taken seriously, anyhow. Then things work out reasonably well. The play represents Mrs. Talbot as a social climber who hopes to “get there” via the route of Mrs. Dela- e the well known leade: Mary Talbot indulges in an esca- pade that shocks the family, but Mrs. Delafield praises her for what she has done, and all is serene. Bushman and Beverly Bayne received a most enthusiastic “society they are playing this week in a sketch entitled “The Poor Rich Man." As both had attained great popularity as screen stars, there was unusual in- terest felt by many to see how they would appear on the stage. They were making their first appearance in_this city and Bushman was natu- rally nervous over what his reception would be in his home town. Neither could complain, as on the first appear- ance of each there was hearty ap- plause. As to their histrionic ability the many curtain calls that followed their act indicated the satisfaction given. With the eyes of the world focused on the coming international scrap, much interest was shown in “The Fight of the Age’ a two-reel film showing intimate and humorous views of Dempsey and Carpentier in training and, in addition, an artist's conception of possible punches to be delivered when the champs get together and what their might be.
