By the Ascociated Press, POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y., June 17.— Testimony saying that Mrs. Anne U. Stillman, on the day that Guy Still- | & man was born directed her nurse to telegraph Fred Beauvais in Montreal a message reading “little brown bear has arrived,” was understogd to have been introduced today in the divorce suit brought by James A. Stillman, New York banker. This testimony was given by Mary Olive Gilligan, who was the nurse at Guy's birth, November 7, 1918, and she added that Mr. Stillman did not appear that day at the hospital where the infant was born. It was lcarned that Dr. Hugh L. Russell, osteopath of Buffalo, identi- fied the handwriting of Beauvais to- day on all the letters submitted by Mr. Stillman to suppoot his charges that Mrs. Stillman was intimate with the part-Indian gulde, and that the latter was the father of Guy Still- man, iz Leather BELTS 35¢ Incredible! SILK FROCKS Fresh From New York And Priced Remarkably Low Second Floor—King's Palace Tots’ Dainty Dr. Russell also was described es testifying that he visited the hos- pital where Guy was born on_ four occaslons during the month of No- vember, 1918, the first call being on the 7th and the last ten days later. He saw Mr. Stillman there only once. At a private hearing Dr. Russell swore that Mrs. Stillman told him several months before the birth of baby Guy that Beauvais was the father of the child. On the ground that Mrs. Stillman's conversations with Dr. Russell were privileged as between a patient and doctor, the defense asked that some of his testimony be stricken out. It was_understood that Referee Daniel J. Gleason reserved decision in this matter. Attempts to prove misconduct by Mrs. Stlllman in her relations with her servant and part-Indian guide, Fred Beauviis, were made yesterday. Irene Kelly, a parlor maid, fre- uently saw Beauvais. at the Pocan- tico Hills estate, standing beside Mrs. Stillman’s bed, ' playing the phono- graph and reading to the banker's wife, according to a report of her testimony. Mary Kelly, 2 maid, declared Mrs. Stillman sometimes used to wear a plain_ band ring with the initials “F. B." engraved on the inside, it was said. There was considerable testimony today as to when, where and how the various servants had gained ac- cess to letters belonging to Mrs. Stillman. Mary Kelly showed one of them to Bernard Kelly, then caretaker of the estate, it was brought out, but upon cross-examination these two wit- nesses were reported to have 8o con- flicted the date of the letter and other details as to contradict state- ments upon which one of the letters | - has been accepted into the case as evidence.
