UP WALTER REED State Society, Clubs and Civic Bodies Join in Fete for Soldiers. The Alabama State Society of Wash- ington intends to make tomorrow a red-letter day out at Walter Reed Hospital. It has arranged an “Ala- bama day” at the institution, in which its members are receiving the co- operation of Alabama chambers of commerce, clubs and private indi- viduals, and a committee of world war veterans, and the society expects all Alabamans in the National Capi- tal to report at Walter Reed by to- morrow morning. Some of the pa- tlents from the state have never been back home since they went overseas. The forenoon is to be devoted to athletic contests. Dinner will be served at midday. Next will come base ball. At 5-o'clock the women of the Alabama society will enter- tain at an old-fashioned basket luncheon, and in the evening a sym- bolic pageant, directed by Mrs. Marie Moore Forrest, written for the occa- sion by Miss Lucia Maxwell: a mu- sical program, reception and dancing are scheduled.
