Britten, bearing the protest of the Chicago congress @gainst the retention of colored troops in German occupied territory, which she intends to deliver to Mar- shal Foch, arrived here today on the steamer Olympic. _She left imme- diately for Paris. She is the wife of Representative Britten of Illinois. PARIS. April 27.—At Marshal Foch's headquarters the Associated Press was informed that the news of Mrs. Britten's intention to deliver a pro- test against the retention of African troops in the occupied zomes, con- veyed by the correspondent, was the first_intimation received that such a move was contemplated. Marshal Foch was too busy with the May 1 occupation plans, in conference with Gen. Weygand. to receive the cosge- pondent, but his aid said the mar- shal would have no objection to re- ceiving Mrs. Britten, although a re- ply to her protest already had been made. ! “It seems that Gen. Allen (com- | mander of the American forces of oc- cupation) has fully replied to Mre. | Britten's protest,” the aid said. _“His report is quite unequivocal. There are no black troops in the occupied zonme at the present time, having been removed long_since.” The aid added that Marshal Foch would not stand on the question | whether he was qualified to receive | the protest, or whether it should be | delivered to the minister of war or | the council of ambassadors, but would be glad to meet Mrs. Britten in order to dispel any misgivings which she | might have. { ———— | Change ia Sehedule R., F. & P.
