LOS ANGELES, Calif., February 1.— A special squad of deputy sheriffs, with others held in reserve, today guarded the county jail where Floyd L. Carr and Arthur W. Carr, oousins, who confessed to kidnaping Mrs. Gladys Witherell were held after their plea of guilty in the superior court last night. Bad Feeling Prevalent. Reports to Chief of Police Lyle Pendegast that there was ‘“a bad feel- ing” in Hollywood over the abduction caused the authorities to decide upon an immediate disposition of the case if possible. The Carrs said they were willing to plead at once, and were taken to county courthouse under a heavy guard.
