Doyle, who wes recently sent to the first precinct from Lteut, Ken- ny’s command, arrested Edward Diggs, eol- ored, about 1 o'clock this morning, and, it is said, prevented a possible homicide. The officer saw Diggs near 9th and I streets northwest, and his actions were so sus- picious that he started to make some in+ quiries of him. While he was so engaged another colored man named Howard Gil- lard came along. and Diggs drawing a dangerous knife from his pocket made an effort to use it on him. Jusi as he did 0 the officer grabbed and disarmed him. He finally succeeded in getting his prisoner ‘behind the burs, and today the case was tried in the Police Court. Diggs admitted the charges of assault and concealed weapons, and Judge Kimbal§ gave him six months in jail.
