Suggestions an to Seaside Resorts, Also Those in the Country ‘The warm weather of the past two days has aroused thoughts of vacation and a longing for the cool sea breezes or the shade of the mountain woods Those who have not already determined where to spend their summer outing will find in- terest in the following suggestions: New is the time to go to the seashore for health and comfort. One of the best places on the Atlantic coast is the Berkley the ocean end of Virginia avenue, City. It has a capacity of 300 and s management fs first-class respect. ‘There are many delightful places at At- but none more so than the . conducted by Frank H. W. Va. It is eligibly situated on New York avenue, just beyond where the bounding billows break upon the beach. The hotel par excellence at Asbury Park fs the Lafayette, a favorite resort for Washingtonians. It has accommodations for ww guests and ample means for their pleasure and entertainment. A feature is a daily orchestral concert. The popular Fenimore at Asbury Park is one of the most attractive places at that favorite summer resort. It is located within a short distance of old ocean, and gets the benefit of every breeze that biows. Its capacity is 200 guests. Surf Heuse, Asbury Park, is well named, being located as close to the ocean’s brink as safety and the comfort of its guests make advisable. It ts now in its twenty- third season, and has a reputation for hospitality that extends all aiong the At- lantic coast. There may be larger places on the sea- coast than Belmar, N. J., but there !s none possessing more real attractions for per- sons in search of rest and recreation. The Atlantic, T. Keck, proprietor, is a fin de siecle hotel, and has accommodations for 175 guests. An ideal home for the summer 1s the cldorado at Ocean Grove, N. J. It is now in {ts twenty-second season, and is more popular than ever. It is located on Broad- way facing both the ocean and Fletcher Lake. The New Congress Hall at Ocean City, Md., is one of the finest hotels on the At- lantic st. It has recently been re- modeled at a heavy expense, and is now provided with electric lights, electric bells and every other modern convenience. Messrs. Grimes. ‘It is well equipped and the table ts abundantly sup- plied. A glance at the advertisement will prove profitable. The Hotei Tolchester at Tolchester Beach, Kent county, Md., is now open, and health and pleasure seekers will find it a most delightful place to spend the hot days now upon us. G. E. Noland will send rates on application. Asbury Park retains its hold on public popularity and clways teems with interest- ing features attractive to the rest and recreation seekers. The Hotel Columbia 1s an excellent abiding place for visitors, and is now open under the wise and generous management of W. Hagerstown is not only one of the most progressive towns in Maryland, but it 1s giso delightfully situated for ‘a summer sojourn. The newly finisked Hotel Surrey, in the suburbs, under John W. Feldman’s proprietorstip, presents remarkably Tea- sonable rates for visitors. Seekers for summer comfort who do not care for hotel life may profitably consider the very well appointed and conducted pri- vate co‘tage of Miss A. W. Krebs at Eagles- Mere, Penrsylvania. Bew's Hotel and bath houses are among the most familiar things at Atlantic City. The hotel, which is located at Illinois ave- nue and the hoard walk, is splendidly equipped and moderniy managed. The Casino and the fashionable hotels are in the immediate vicinity. It is conducted by Richard Bew on both the European and the American plan. The Jersey coast promises to become eventually one long string of hotels, but when it does Spring Lake will hold Its own in public esteem, and the Carleton will re- tain its place in the front rank of the hos- telries. It fronts the ocean near the lake and is conducted by S. E. Simon in a first- lass manner. Person who desire to enjoy the sea breezes and can afford but moderate ex- penditure will do well to address E. J. Doty, proprietor of the Hawthorne, on 4th avenue, Asbury Park. The hotel is well conducted, especially regarding its table. Many Washingtonians have enjoyed a stay at the Lakewood, which Mrs. W. R. Givin conducts with such admirable man- zgement at Atlantic City. The situation at the ocean end of South Carolina avenue is delightful, and it ts contiguous to the best bathing beach, as well as the favorite promenade section of the board walk. Atlantic City has a host of hotels, but none fs better kept than the Maryland, which is located on New York avenue near the beach. Proprietor F. S. Orem keeps a keen eye open on the markets and sets a very enjoyable table. The Hotel Hoffman, at Atlantic City, situated near the beach, on Pennsylvania avenue, presents many attractive features ts transierts or sojourners. It is modern- ly equipped and enjoys excellent patron- age. Every sea breeze that blows over Atlan- tic City’s sands finds its way to the Hotel Albion, at Massachusetts and Atlantic av- enues. It has a capacity of 500 guests, and even when full every guest is well taken care of by Manager Wm. P. Dobley and his courteous assistants. There is no more delightful place on the Potomac or Chesapeake to spend the heat- ed months than Old Piney Point, which he been the favorite resort of the leading families of Washington, Maryland and Vir- ginia for mauy year Everything that could add to the comfort or amusement of the guests has been provided. The large comfortable hotel at the Point opens for the reception of guests July 1.
