Special Correspondence of The Evening Star. "- WASHINGTON GOVE, M4., May 31, 1807. The annual meeting of the Washingtan Grove Camp Meeting Association was held this day in the tabernacle. While the at- tendance of the members was not as great as in former years, some of the old-time enthusiasm was manifested in the discus- sion of matters pertaining to financial affairs and questions of management, and nearly the whole day was devoted by the stockholders present in considering the various propositions presented for consider- ation. Many substantial improvements have been made to the grounds of the associa- tion and aiso upon some of the private cot- tages. The hotel has especially been im- proved by the introduction of running wa- ter, and bath sooms and the elders’ cottage has reccived due attention in needed changes. Upon the hotel the sum of $1,000 has been expended; upon cottages, $2,500, and upon grounds, $250, thus showing that the spirit of enterprise has not left the officials who have charge of the business interests of the association. The secretary of the association, Carlton Hughes, treated the audience to one of his best efforts in a poetical line, and the com- plimentary action of some of the old “war horses” of Methodism, was but a slight tribute of the general expression of the listeners. Feeling tribute was paid in noting the death of George T. Woodward, Rev. Rich- ard Norris, Mrs. M. 8. Jackson and Mrs. Dr. Loockermann, respectively, who fore number of years were members of the as- sociation, and ever active in advancing its best Interests. Notice was given of a pre- posed memorial service, to be held in the month of June. Improvements are contemplated for the ensuing year in the grading of Grove road, Chestnut road and the opening of Cen‘er street to the Laytonsville road. The new plat hibited, and each stockholder can have @ pocket copy upon request made to the see- retary. The business of the meeting culminated in the election of trustees and officers, Wut one ticket being voted for, as follows: Warren Choate, Cariton
