The only sections of the act of 18% in- tended to be repealed are sections 1 and 2, and the question is whether the remain- ing sections would be repealed by implica- tion. The German carp with which the upper Wabash river was stocked a few years ago by the United States fish commission have multiplied until the waters of the stream and its northern Indiana tributaries are densely populated with fish, many of which are very large. In the Mississinewa, near Conner’s mill, five miles from Lafontaine, this county, a farmer reports the catch of a carp weighing twenty pounds. East of here the river has been high during the last week, and near the Wells county line peo- ple have had great sport catching carp in the amailer streams, into which the tile drains discharge. It is said that the carp have a predilection for hunting the dark and cool retreats in the tile during the day, returning to the streams at night. They run up into fields long distances, and at evening drift back, tails foremost, into the creeks. The inhabitants of that E33 of the state have studied this habit of the carp and go after sunset to the mouths of the drains, set a lantern at the orifice, and when the carp comes down throw them out on the bank. Catches of fish weighing from six to ten pounds, it is said, have been made in this manner. —We're showing a“Little Rock” Boot for boys that has made a decided “hit,” both with the boys and their mothers.
