Henry Watson, charged with the larceny of $8.50 from Mrs. Woodward on Wednesday jast, was today held by Judge Milier in $1,000 for the action of the grand jury. Policeman Hart of the third precinct yesterday found a dead infant on the dump on 2ist street between B and C streets, ———— iGUILY RELEASED, The Imprisoned American Pardoned by the Queen Regent. Jullo Sanguily, the American citizen who was twice sentenced to imprisonment for fe on the charge of being a rebel, was released in Havana yesterday afternoon, the queen regent having pardoned him, much to the chagrin of those who were instrumental in bringing about his con= victions. He at once left the Cabanas fortress, where he had been confined awalt- ing the result of his appeal against his sentence, and started for his home. He was naturally highly elated to be at liberty again after being confined for over two years, and he was so anxious to get to his family that he did not have time to talk about his experiences. He will leave today for the United States with his family, traveling by way of Tampa. + + COL. MeCOOK DECLINES, Will Not Accept the Secretaryship of the Interior. The York Commercial Advertiser says: “Col. John J. McCook will not be New York's representative in the next President's cabinet. Col. McCook, it is an- nounced today, has been considering an offer to enter the cabinet as Secret: of the Interior and has declined the honor. Senator-elect Platt was informed by Co! McCook of his intention. The Depart- ment of Justice alone had attractions for Col. McCook, and when Mr. McKinley decided tu make Judge McKenna his At- torney General Col. McCook thankfully declined prefprment in any other capacity in the cabinet.” Col.
