They VW Complete Reconstruction of e Wallach Building. Messrs. Esches and Kengla, the bonds- men of W. W. Winfree, the contractor for the reconstruction of the Wallach School building, appeared before the inspector of buildings today and signified their inten- tion of proceeding at once with all expedi- will tion to finish the building. It be re- called that, inasmuch as Cont x Win- free could not give suitable assurances that he was competent to complete the builling on time, the werk was taken from him, and his bondsmen notified to do the work. Building Inspector Brady reports the near completion of the Stevens School, which was left in an unfinished condition by Con- tuuactor Cabell. The bondsmen in this case refused to complete the building, and the building inspector asked permission of the Commissioners to step in and do the work by day's labor. He assured the Commis- sioners that he would complete the building within six weeks. On next Saturday after- noon, he says, the building will be prac- tically completed and ready for occupancy. This case is pointed to with con pride by the advocates of muni trol of ‘all public buildings erecied by the District. SS THE McCAULEY ESTATE. What Mr. H. C. McCauley Says warding the Matter. Mr. H. C. McCauley said today to a Star reporter in regard to the petition filed by Catherine V. McCauley to e him re- moved as executor of the estate of Theo. F. McCauley: “Your account of the peti- tion filed by Catherine V. McCauley, my Re- brother's widow, states that I am charged in it with concealing from her a private letter from my brother to me, which I have recently offered for probate. I obeyed my brother's request embodied in the letter, and nothing more. This letter contained in- structions to me that I should invest the money received from the sale of his store for the sole benefit of his five minor chi)- dren. This I endeavored to accomplish ac- ccrding to his request; hence this suit. The court will have to decide as to whom the money belongs, the widow or the children. That I attempted to mislead her as to the assets of the estate is disproved by the fact that she and ten of the heirs were fully in- formed by my brother as to the contents of his will and the sale of his store to Speiser before he left for Europe, where he died. My accounts as executor and as guardian have been filed, and every dollar received by me properly accounted for, as the rec- ords of the Orphans’ Court will show. In- deed, my overpayments amount to several hundred dollars.” ———— The Crittenton Mectings. Mr. Charles N. Crittenton of New York, who is conducting a series of evangelistic meetings at the Metropolitan M. E. Church, will speak next Sunday afternoon, probabiy at the First Congregational Church, upon “Florence Mission Rescue Work.” Mre. Kate Waller Barrett will also make an ad- dress at that meeting, and Mr. H. F. Perry will sing a rescue solo.
