THE EVENING STAR, WEDNESDAY, “NOVEMBER 25, 1896-12 PAGES. 7 ree he 5 We shall be closed all day tomorrow — Thanksgiving ay. Fineness in Flannel ==AT== PERRY'S. Flannel is a family affair. Everybody uses it. Its com- fort makes a necessity of it—but the sound qualities, and pretty tints and patternings that sparkie in our own big variety give Flannel the flavor of a luxury. Then comes the price—our low prices that rank it with the commodities again. It is just an illustration of that motto’s truthiulness—“best cheapest.” We cannot see how any collection can be better than ours. Open tonight tilt 10— tomorrow until Ice Palace Opens Tonight. A pretty wedding tock plece thjs morn. ing at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Herron, 1823 16th street. Miss Edith Caro- line Herron and Mr. Harrison Nesbitt were married by Rev. George B. Patch. The bride looked ing in a traveling gown of dark cloth h hat to match. Immediately after the ceremony Mr, and Mrs. Nesbitt left for Warrenton, Va., where they will spend ABOUT THE SEALS, An Interesting Talk by Mr. David are Jordan. An entertaining as well as an instructive talk about the summer residents of the Bering sea seal islands was enjoyed last evening by the members of the Men’s So- ciety, Church of the Covenant, and their invited guests. The speaker was David Starr Jordan, the president of Stanford University, California, who spent last sum- mer in the Peibylov Islands studying for the benefit of the United States government the problem of the preservation of the Seals. President Jordan arrived in the city last week for the purpose of confer- ring with government officials, and the announcement that he would speak aroused special interest among the scientists of the city, a number of whom were in the au- dicnce that filled the chapel of the church. A number of stereopticon views of pho- tcgraphs taken on the island were shown on a screen. President Jordan said the photographs were not very good owing to the atmospheric conditions where rain and mist constantly prevailed.
