At the opening of the third day's pro- ceedings of the district conference of the Alexandria district, Virgina conference, M. E. Church, on Saturday, the devotional exercises were led by Rev. Geo. McCort of Old Point. A resolution to substitute in future district conventions for the district conference was defeated by a large ma- jority. Rey. J. E. Allender reported the condi- tion of the Waterford circuit. Rev. G. W. Stallings gave a history of his work at Chesapeake City, and stated that the num- ber of drinking saloons in that place during the tast year had been reduced from sixty to thirty-seven. Mr. Armstrong, class leader from Fairfax, reported the condition of his class. ‘The hour of 11 having arrived, the Rev. W. T.
