The secretary of the Independent Hose Company, J. Roger Me- Sherry, was elected president of the State Firemen’s Association; Wm. M. Killed Hasband, Mother and Dangh- ter. ‘The trial of Lizzie Halliday, who ts ac- c.sed of the murder ef Paul Halliday ana Margaret and Strah McQuillan, will begin this afternoon at Monticello, N. Y. The first day will probably be confined to draw- ing a jury. The task will be a difficult one, as the circumsiances of the triple murder ere known even better than the alphabet throughout the county. The closing days of last August wit- nessed a horrible triple mun in which & mother, a daughter, who was a beautiful | young girl, and Paul Halliday were cruelly and deliberately murdered with the cunning of @ fiend and their bodies hidden.
