Meeting of the Maryl: ‘Virginia Commission to Investigate It. The oyster commission appointed by the governors of Maryland and Virginia to in- vestigate the capture of Maryland oyster- men while dredging, it is claimed, in Vir- ginfa waters, met at the Hygeia Hotel at Fort Monroe yesterday afternoon. The members of the Maryland committee are Senator Hayes, chairman; Senator Waters and Delegates Carter, Legg and Wilkin- son. The Virginia committee is composed of Delegates Cardwell and Boykin and Sena- tor Stubbs, with J. Bell Bigger, clerk of the Virginia house of delegates, acting in the same capacity for the committee. This is the second meeting of the commission, the first having been held in Maryland a short time ago, At the meeting yesterday afternoon only one witness was examined. He testified to the fact that the Sg arrested had been caught dredging in Virginia waters. It is claimed by the Marylanders that, even if these charges were true, the dredgers were not arrested in Virginia waters, and that the charges of illegal dredging cannot be substantiated. After holding a short ses- sion the committee adjourned for dinner. When they had dined it was determined to adjourn until this morning at 9 o'clock. A large number of witnesses are to be exam- ined, and it is likely that some of the most important bearings on the vexed question will be brought out at this meeting. Capt. ning eo of the Chesapeake, which captured the dredgers, will be examined today. stat sones Natiopal League of Musicians, The second day's proceedings of the Na- tlonal League of Musicians at Baltimore was characterized by the dispatch of a large amount of routine business in the settle- ment of disputes between various local and individual members. The question of affiliation with the Federation of Labor was the sul of several resolutions and ex- tended discussion, but no decision was reached.
