Recent Happenings Among the Boys and | Girls. ‘The Eastern and the Central to Meet | in Foot Ball — Mectings of School Clubs. There is a movement on foot at present to have the three separate classes of "| form into one organization and hold their i reunions hereafter as one body. Hereto-| fore the three divisions have been working | separately and holding their meetings and social gatherings in their respective sec- tions of the city, but the executive com- mittees have been considering the matter | and have come to the conclusion that it would appear more appropriate to organize into one body, and in the future reunite | gs the graduating class of '% of the Wash- } ington High School. Citizens Being Armed to Resist an At- tack by Revolutionists. An El Paso dispatch says: The City of | Mexico is In the greatest excitement, and the military and civil authorities are busily engaged in arming citizens with all the weapons obtainable. Te cause of the excitement is due to information received by the military com- mander and commander of the frontier customs guards that the city, and partic- ularly the custom house, will be attacked by the revolutionists, a detachment of whom captured the custom house at Las Palomas, ninety miles west of there, last Tuesday. The evolutionists, or “orronunciados, or “pronunciades,” several days since {s- sued a “pronunciamento” against the Mex- ican government and distributed it along the border and to the south. This fact be- cal Known to the government, but no attention was paid to the matter until the attack and capture of the custom house at Las Palomas, which wes a complete sur- rise. Pine authorities have information that the revoll i now on their way to uarrez from Palomas, and are about 600 trong, while other small parties are con- inually joining them from the mountains to the south and west. 7 Another Foot Ball Casualty. The tragic death of young Hugh Saussy while playing in a game of foot ball at Elizabeth, N. J., Saturday, has’ occasioned a great deal of comment. Saussy was one of the most prominent men who has play- ed in recent years, outside of the big col- legiate elevens. He was asked to play in the game simply to strengthen the team. Hugh was the left guard of the New York team. Woodruff, the left half-back of the Elizabeth team, got the ball and started to run with it for a touchdown. Saussy start- ed after him, and when he got near enough jumped and dived to throw Woodruff. Woodruff dodged and Saussy struck the ground head first. His head ploughed the sod for a distance of a yard. He uttered ne ¢ but rolled over on his back. He was taken to the Elizabeth Hospital and died three flours later, a AUCTION SALES. _THIS APTERNOON.
