On Saturdey afternoon the section boss at Beabrooke, on the Baltimore and Potomac rail- road, foand the dead body of a railroad brake- man lying near the track, he having been almost instantly killed by falling or rolling off | strain. On Saturday evening Robert Reveal, colored, fell from a cable car on 7th between Mand N streets northwest and was slightly injured. Richard Johnson, colored, fell from a cable car at 7th street and Pennsrivania avenue north- west about 10:45 o'clock Saturday night and Fat sctionsly injared. He was vent to the Mra. Daniel A. Killigan of No. 433 O street northwest was knocked down by = cable car at ‘Sth street and Px ‘ivania avenue last night about 8:30 o'clock alighting from another ear. She received a severe cut on the left fore- arm, severing an artery. and was badly bruised. The flow of blood was stopped at Scheller & Stevens’ drag store and she was removed to her SS Chickens With Brass Buttons. Policemen Lynch and McDonald of the eighth Precinct went into the mile-limit district yes- terday and visited the premises of Thos. Hell- math, on Spring street, a short distance from Brightwood avenue. The maximum temperature in Washington yesterday was 91, New York and Baltimore 92, Philsdel; Boston and St Louis 90, Chicago 34. hottest place i the country was Yuma, Cal, where the mereury climbed to 106. Overcome by Heat. Joseph Gotleib was overcome by the heat at 7th street and Florida avenue northwest last evening and taken to Garfield Hospital. ‘The Reporter and His Mascot. The weather bas s mascot who is imbued with the idea that he is destined to bea reporter and eventually an editor. He isa boy whose education is not what it might be, but for all that he is a good-natured fellow, willing to do anything that will connect him in any way with “de repawters,” as he calls them. WM. LEONARD'S INJURIES, Though at First Thought Fatal, May Result in Recovery. The party injured on Saturdsy morning on the Alexandria railroad near Four Mile Run, Wm. Leonard, is today improving at Provi- dence Hospital. The trainmen on » south- bound freight, followed closely by anothi noticed the body lying on the embankment, and, stopping to take him up, found that he was unconscious, having a gash on the head and a fractured leg. Ho was placed in the caboose, when the other train dashed into the rear end of the train, but the train hands all escaped and the wounded man was not further injured, save by being shaken up. He was brought to the city and taken to Providence Hospital. and although at first thought to be fatally injured it is thought now that he will recover. identified as Wm.
