His End Came Suddenly Last Evening—His Honorable Service. Rear Admiral Earl English, United States navy, retired, died unexpectedly at his reai- dence at 1518 K street about 8 o'clock last evening from a severe attack of cholera mor- bus. He had been in failing health for nearly ayear, but was not thought to be so near his end. Since his retirement, nine years ago, Aduiral English has divided his time between his residence at 1518 K street northwest, built by him, and his country residence at Culpeper, Va, where he was interested in the banking business. He was appointed to the Naval Academy from New Jersey in 1840 and served forty-six years, retiring in 1836. He was at the capture of Mazatlan, Mexico, in 1847. and remained there until the close of war. ‘Boston. ‘Washington.
