The presidency, it was thought, would change bands, and the name of Frederick K. Stearns has been mentioned as that of the most likely successor to Howard Perry of this city. Mr. Stearns mentined the matter in an interview with Secretary James E. Sullivan on ‘Thursday and said that he had no aspirations for the presidency of the national body. He expressed himself thoroughly satistied with the present ofliceholder, Mr. Perry, who has dis- charged the duties with credit and dignity. As long as Mr. Perry is in the field for re- election Mr. Stearns has no idea of opposing him; in fact, he says he will support him with ‘all his heart.’ Mr. Stearns will probably be re- elected vice president.
