NINE CONVINCING REASONS ‘Why Co-operative Town Company Stock is the best investment on the Washington market today, ‘Because it promises large returns and its value is based on real estate actually owned by the company. ‘Because every dollar invested previous to July 1 will be doubied in value by the completion of the Bristol aod Elizabethton railroad. Because three hundred men are now engaged build- ing bridges and laying rails to complete this road by Acgust L Because the enterprise ts no longer an experiment, ‘Dut a well-established an prosperous business Because careful and intelligent managementis guar- ‘anteed by the Board of Directors. Because the property of the company is located tn ‘the richest mineral, timber and agricultural region of the south. He feels that great harm might come to the party and to him should the impression become prevalent that held any different attitude on this subject. All this he has made clear to Mr. Clarkson, and M Clarkson at his carnest solicitation has promised him that he will take charge of the work of the republican national executive committee. Un- Jess some unexpected hitch occurs the direction of the campaign will be divided between two head managers, Campbell at Chicago and Clark- son in New York. The latter will have his family in the suburbs in the vicinity of New York, and will spend most of his time until after the election at the headquarters in New York city. MN. PLATT WILL WORK. Substentially what was eaid to Mr. Clarkson by Mr. Harrison wascommunicated to Mr. through Mr. Reid, the candidate for Vice President, with whom Mr. Platt had a confer- ence concerning the organization of the state committee of New York. Mr. Platt wns told that it was the President's desire that th ganization of the committee should be ac ing to his (Mr. Platt's) wishes and that b should feel free to advise the President make any request of him. Mr. Reid reported te the President that Mr. Platt wax ready to go t work carnestly for the ticket. Efforts are being made to placate Mr. Quay in the same manner, and it is the determination of Mr. Harrison that there shall be no lack of harmony in the party if it lies in his power to conciliate those who were agrieved. The thing which Mr. Harrison particularly desires is that the warmest and most devoted friends of Mr. Blaine shall feel that they above all others are held in high fr istration; that there is no ill will toward Mr. Blaine, and that anything that the President can do for him or his friends in the way of recognition or appointment will be done with alacrity and pleasure. A friend of Mr. Harri- son said to a Stan reported today that the Presi- dent would be glad of an oj favor to friends of Mr. would do for them on account of Mr. Blaine what he would not do for others. The President makes no secret of this senti- ment, but desires thathis kindly feelings should be understood. ANDY GLEESON'S CONTRIBUTION, On reading in Tue Star last evening that Gen. Clarkson had consented to take charge of the New York end of the campaign, acting as chairman of the executive committee, of which by virtue of his office of chairman of the na- tional committee Mr. Campbell is ex-officio chairman, Mr. Andy Gleeson, who is among the most enthusiastic of the Blaine men, went to Gen. Clarkson. ‘Mr. Gleeson, it is stated, was informed by Gen, Clarkson that it was true that he had co sented to take charge of the work in New York, though he would not be entitled to be called “chairman.” ‘Thereupon Mr. Gleeson handed Gen. Clarkson a contribution of £500. sri — — THE FIRST OF JULY. Changes Today Because the New Ap- propriation Bills Are Not Passed.
