EL NGER'S | MONEY. | Robbed of $327 and Nearly 8200 Recovered by the Police. | Yesterday morning in the Center Market Mrs. Theresa Ellinger of No. 427 4th street northeast | was robbed of #327. The money was in her pocket book and she carried it with her for safe { keeping. Only a short while ago she drew the money from bank, being afraid that the bank | would fail. When she missed the money she remembered that a crowd of small boys had | | gathered sround her as she approached the market and asked for a job to carry her basket. | In reporting her loss she reminded the police of the action of the boys, and early last even- ing the alleged thief @d his companions were behind the bars. Detective Trammell and Po- licemen Sutton and Barnes of the second cinct were at work upon the case and Eedio Cephas, the boy who is charged with having | | taken the money, was soon arrested. 1G Following his’ arrest the officers picked up | Jordan Madison, Fred Brown, Paul Newman, William Patton, Betty Cophas, Susie Cephas and Isauc Brown, and théy were held as having g got their iat of the mone: The officers learned that some of the boys bad gone to Philadelphia and the police of that city were at | once notified. Soon after the meseago was sent |@n answer was received to the effect that | Charles Hudson, John Brown and a boy called | “Ritfies” were in custody and that $44 had been recovered from them. The officers here re- covered $71 from Susie Cephas. The boys ar-| rested in Philadelphia will be bi t here and the case will probably be beard in the Police Court Saturday.
