It has not only its magistrates courts, a corporation and a cireuit court on its own account, but it is, also, the court house of Alexandria county, which bas a county court and a circuit court. Besides this the “United States has a circuit wd a district court here for the eastern district of Virginia, and in addition to all these there was held here yesterday a reser- vation court for the Arlington reservation. ‘This court was held at the United States court room in the National building by United States Commissioners Wormly. He heard there the case of Jerry Smith, charged with assault on Ellen Gardnerat Arlington. A fine was imposed and paid, and Smith was discharged. THE CAMERON STREET IMPROVEMEN The proposal for the repairing of East Cam- eron street, which, having been adopted by the upper board of the city council, will probably be agreed to by the lower board at its next meeting, is thought to be important to trade from the fact that King street, which has been the principal thoroughfare for vehicles, will, when the new electrical road goes into operation, become very inconvenient for vehicles drawn by horses. Cameron street is not, however, well suited for hauling. Its crossing of the bed of old Oronoko creek has made a valley at Pitt street that adds greatly to the burden of horses. When Queen street crossed the same valley it was passed by an embankment, but the cross- ing on Cameron strect, having been made at an earlier period, the ascent of the hills was left quite steep. There is some talk of a re- grade at this point, with culverts to allow the drainage of Pitt street to pasa under Cameron street. The paving will probably be made be- fore the summer closes. CORPORATION COURT. The sessions of the corporation court in its June term occur as business demands them. E. T. Nulle has been appointed receiver of the estate of Maggie A. Miller. NOTES. A throng gathered last night at the M. E. Church South on Washington street at the marriage of Mr. John T. Bankman of Washing- ton and Miss Emma M. Reynolds of this city, und the happy couple were greeted with the wishes of many friends. Jefferson Roberts, a well-known old resident, died yesterday at his home on Royal and Queen streets, The funeral of the late Geo. Bauer took place this afternoon from the German Lutheran | Church on Cameron street. D. W. Delany has bought the Virginia House at the west end of King street for $2,800. This was formerly the principal hotel in the western section of the city, but has not been used for that pa for some time. D. W. Whiting has qualified as justice of the of the second ward. Potomac Lodge, I. O. O. F. of this city, will spend next Fourth of July at Falls Church, where an odd fellows’ hall will be dedicated. M. M. Ball bas sold Catharine Marcey, for $200, an acre of land near Ballston. ‘A handsome gold watch was stolen last night from Mr. Willie Hrooks while he was bathing in the river. peek See $13 To Chicago and Return. 613 Via picturesque B. and 0. The annual battalion drill of the High School Cadet Corps will take place tomorrow in the plaza before the Arlington at 6:30 p. m. The Secretary of War has courteously ac- corded the boys the services of the Marine Band for the occasion. The Commissioners, school trustees, superin- tendent will review the parade from the bal- conies of the hotel. The line of march will be from the Central School. building, 7th and O streets, to 6th, to tia, Capt. Pennsylvania avenue, to 15th street, to H, to the Arlington. After afew minutes’ rest the battalion will be formed and passed in review, closing with battalion drill in the manual and dress parade. ‘The space required under the new tactics to maneuver a six-company battalion is so that it will be impossible to give an exhibition of many foot movements, but the interest will be quite as great as in former years. On account of the heat the route of parade and the time of drill will both be curtailed somewhat. After theclose of drill the battalion will be disbanded. THE CHANGE WAS DUE TO HOOD'S SARSAPARILLA. “CHRISTMAS DAY, Dec. 25, 1891. “C. I. Hood & Co., Lowell, Mass. : “have been reading in a paper today about Hood's ‘Sarsaparilla being a cure for DYSPEPSIA, And Iknow that it is true. A year ago the smell of my Christmas dinner was enough for me, but this year I find that I WANT MORE THAN A SMELL ‘ and I give Hood’s Sarsaparilia the credit for the change in my feelings. For the last two years I have been troubled with dyspepsia, and could find no cure for it. My friends told me that if I went to Europe, seasick- ness, change of air and diet would care me. I went to tIreland and remained the three summer months of his year, ‘91, and came back in September uncured. MY BLOOD WAS WATERY and I was told to take Hood's Sarsaparilla for it. Idid go, and in one month I found that it was beneficial for both poor blood and dyspensia, for I am now PERFECTLY WELL and have not taken any other medicine since I came home. ROBT. W.
