Died at the Age of 112. A permit was issued from the health office today for the interment of Mary Ann Coleman, & colored woman, who died at No. 1725 20th street Tuesday of old age. Her funeral took place yesterday, the interment being CANTATA. Fifty little men and women with voices sweet and fresh sang last night in the hall ad- joining St. Jobn’s Church that delightful can- tata, “Voices of Nature.” With remarkable taste the stage had been decorated and when the birds and butterflies and frogs and flowers burst upon the audience a hum of genuine ad- miration was heard throughoat the room. The soloists were all self-possessed and the choruses showed the result of careful training. All the participants were appropriately costumed. The dancing was a special feature of the entertain- ment and mightily appreciated. Willits, who was nominated by the republican state convention at Springfield on Thursday as one of the two Congressmen-at- large from Illinois, is the only son of Edwin Willits of Michigan, assistant secretary-of agri- culture, The coming Congressman is but 34 years of age and is a prosperous and well-known lawyer in Chicago, and very prominent in the social and club life of that ci AN ANTI-HARRISON CONFERENCE. A Meeting in This City of Leaders Who ‘Oppose the President. ‘Mr. Platt of New York is expected here to- day, and there will be a conference between some of the anti-Harrison leaders in the after- noon or evening. The conferenco will be se- eret, of course, and the participants will take care to prevent their movements from being followed. Mr. Quay was to have left here two nights ago and was about to take the train when he received s telegram which detained him. The purpose of the conference, it is said, is not to decide upon any candidate to put up against Harrison, as there is felt to be more strength in keeping the whole field in combi- nation against him, with an apparent chance in | the fight for any aspirant after Harrison is out of the way.
