Arnavon’s,—Miss Fanny Davenport bas come to be recognized as the one English-s} exponent of Sardou's wonderful ti6 creations, In “Fedora” and “La Tosca” she gained warm praise from the most exac critics aud added to hor former well-earn Feputation as an actress of great intensity and power who at times rose to the height of tragic joree. In “Cieopatra,” which she prevented at Albaugh’s last uight for the first time in thie city, Miss Daveuport was seen perhaps to" betier advantage than on any former occasion. The scenic and mechan- ical effects with which this play is surrounded are veritable triumphs of stage realism and were a revelation to the dience last night. Those Who Were Up in Judge Kimball's Court This Morning. Three dozen prisoners occupied the three cells at the Police Court this morning, and when time was called for court to open the procession for Judge Kimball's court ou the upper floor started. The leader of the line was & nan named Frank Thompson, whose tall silk hat gave him the appearance of a drum major leading the members of his band. ‘Thompson was neatly attired in a suit of dark clothes, and the broad expanse of white linen and satin tie gave him the appearance of « mau who had been at the ball the night before. His statement was that he had been visiting his brother at Martinsburg and was given a razor, which the officer exhibited as evidence in the case. Thompson was drunk. and Polico- man Lynch arrested him for being disorderly. ‘The court said that as the razo: was wrapped in paper it showed that some color was to be given to the prisoner's statement, On the charge of concealed weapons the court took his personal bonds, He paid @5 for being dis- orderly.
