A Californian Man Knocked Down by Three Negroes Yesterday Afternoon. Late yesterday afternoon a man giving his name as James E. Corine and his residence as Los Angeles, Cal., entered the office of In- spector Swindells at police headquarters and made complaint of a bold and daring robbery that bad been committed about 5 o'clock in the | woods between Soldiers’ Home and Glenwood, not far from Eckington. His story was that he had been in Atlanta, Ga., working on @ railroad building and from there he went to New York and then he came | here. He had sent for letters of recommenda- j tion, he says, and having nothing to do yester- | day afternoon he went out as far as the termi- nusof the Eckington road and thought h would take a walk in the woods. When reached a place where he saw a “wine house sign, he says, he turned into the woods and walked about for more than an hour picking blackberries. While picking berries, he says, three colored men approached him and one of them struck him with a bottle and knocked him down. ‘Two of them held him while the third rifled his pockets and secured two railroad tickets, one from Atlanta to New York and the other from New York to Chicago, a silver wateh and chain and $65 in money. ne says that he secured the bottle and struck one of the men with it. It was still some time before sundown, and when the men left him Corine says that be ran off in the opposite direction and came in to make the report. A telephone message was sent to the eighth Precinct station and the county officers were directed to make a thorough investigation of the case. Sages Anton Fischer's Will. The will of the late Antou David Fischer was filed yesterday. He leaves his estate to his wife, Bertha Fischer, and names her as ex- ecutrix. se ey To Enjoin the Disposal of Patents, The National Bank of the Republic of Now York yesterday filed a judgment creditors’ bill against the Judson Pneumatic Railway Company to recover $5,042 and to enjoin the Gisposal of the defendant's patents till tat amount is made good. The bank states tat judgment was obtained July 10 and the writ was retarned “nulla bona,” but that the pai ents owned by defendant are valuable and asks that the court decree their sale to satisfy the judgment. oe He Threw a Brick. Chris Collins, a carpenter, was seated on a lumber pile near 14th and B streets northeast Yestevday afternoon and listened to an exciting discussion between John Flynn, a bricklayer, and a colored man named Edward Berry. After the discussion had ended and Flynn had walked away Berry, it is charged. threw a brick. intending to strike Flynn, but the brick struck Collins on the head and intlicted a se- vere injury. Berry has not yet been arrested. aijonstiad ts Can't Stand Washington Whisky. Joseph Sands was before Judge Miller again today. This time the charge was drunk and disorderly. Yesterday in the Police Court in the case of Alexander Peterson, convicted of keeping an unlicensed bar in South Washington, Judge Miller imposed a fine of $105. Today Mr. Carrington called Judge Miller’ attention to the charges of feat prooy with witnesses and said he would demand jury trials. Judge Miller fixed the bail at $200 in each case, Which was given. ‘Mra. Glover Keturns Home, Inspector Swindells received information to- day that Mrs. Agnes Glover, whose reported disappearance was mentioned in yesterday's Stax, bad returned home all right. The horse and wagon belonged to Mrs. Glover, and after leaving the house of Mr. Jaeger on Capitol Hill Thursday afternoon her horse was taken sick and she was obliged to get the animal into a livery stable, and was not able to get home that ing. Yesterday morning the animal was better and Mrs. Giover drove to her home near Wheaton. es A Newspaper in New Quarters, The entire building, 1108 G street, has been leased by the proprietors of the Church Neves, and hereafter that successful weekly journal, devoted to Catholic interests, will be issued from its new quarters. They Are Public thoroughfares and May Be Improved by the Commissioners. Yesterday afternoon Judge Hagner, in the case of Charles E. Fairman agt. J. W. Douglass etal., signed a decree (as stated in Tar Star) declaring certain streets in Le Droit Park pub- lic highways, &c. The decree is practically a consent decree and declares null and void the following reer- vations on the plat of the park as recorded in the surveyor's office: “The proprietors of this subdivision hereby declare it to be their purpose and intention to retain the ownership and control of all the streets platted hereon, and the right to inclose the whole or any portion or portions of the tract or tracts included in this subdivision, which have been deeded and now belong to them; also to locate and control all entrances and gates to the same; but all purchasers of Jots or parts of lots in aid tract or tracts and their friends shall have thé right of way to all such entrances and streets at all times, whether such right is speciticialy named and conveyed by deeds given to them or not.” The streets and avenues known as Bohrer street, Juniper street, Larch street, Linden street, Eim street,Spruce street, Maple avenue, Harewood avenue and Le Droit avenue in sai park, or parts of said park, as recorded in the | Plats thereof, are deciared to be public high- | ways. | ‘The Commiesioners are empowered to direct that said streets be improved forthwith by vir- tue of appropriations made for that purpose by the Congress of the United States; that when eaid improvements in Linden street, Larch street aud Maple avenue shail be com- menced, and it becomes necessary to take down the fence across Linden street, the Commis- sioners of the District of Columbia shail give written notice thereot to Chas. E.
