DUSKY DIAMOND DEALEKS. ‘New York and Brooklyn Coal Men Enter- tained at a Banquet. Two hundred New York and Brooklyn coal dealers are in the city. They came yesterday ‘evening and proceeded to possess just as much of the national capital as they had any imme- diate use for in » thoroughly reputable and pleasing manner. As soon as the excursionists arrived at the Ebbitt House they were formally welcomed by Mr. E. Kurtz Johnson. Madden, Alexandria, Va genic et He Wants an Absolute Divorce. Jeremiah D. O'Connell has filed a bill for a divorce against Mary E. O'Connell by Mr. J. S. Bigelow. Litigation has been in progress for some years as to setting aside an agreement by which they were to separate, and the defend- ant in that suit now asks an absolute divorce. In his bill he states that they were married August 11, 1964, have two children, both grown. After stating that differences arose between them, which were condoned. he states that she deserted him in September, 1884. He states that she falvely charged him with adultery and immoralitice with women and has knowingly made false charges to heads of de- partments involving not only his character but the characters of innocent women, which were prompted, he alleges, by & Parpese to extort money from him. He says by reason of such Telentless persecutions and to threats of dis charge from office, and for the purpose Of obtaining peace and freedom, he executed the articles of separation October 8, 1334, = pay her father one-half his’ salary during her life. He refers to the case for the cancellation of the articles of sareement, and says notwithstanding they signed th she continued ber false accusations, He now on the testimony taken in such case, that she has led a dissolute life here, in New York and at Atluntic C'ty, naming Duvid Tulty, Edward McGraw, John F! Kiley, CharlesOgden and Hezekiah Purdon as persons with whom she has been guilty of adultery. He claims a ivoree on the grounds of cruelty and adultery. a onions Accident. Richard Nolan, white, drunkard and beggar, has had his name entered on the police records for the last time, as about 8 o'clock this morn- ing be was found in No. 1 cell, where he haa been detained for drunkenness, quietly sleep- ing the sleep of death. Noone knows at what time he died, and from the silence that reigned in the station all night it is presumed death came peacefully. Nolan's face was famil- iar to every station ki in the District and fully one-half his life, it is stated, had been spent in the work house, where he was employed in the bake shop, and his ability in this capacity was unquestioned. Nolan was about fifty-nine or sixty years of age. The coroner was notified immediately and an autopsy will be held over the remains. A PRETTY WEDDING. Mr. John L. Cannon and Miss Margaret Queen, both of Tenleytown, were married last night at the Dumbarton Avenue Church by the Rev. J. E. Amos. The bride was attired in a white albatross cloth trimmed with lace and ribbons, and wore a veil surmounted by a wreath of lilies of the valley. MORE DAMAGING EVIDENCE. The Horton woman gave damaging evidence ‘against the prisoner. She told of his visiting her a week or more ago and making arrange- ments for the girl to be taken asa boarder. “He impressed upon me,” she said, ‘that the girl was a Jewess and asked me totntroduce her us such.” When the girl came, and told her that she was only fifteen years old and that she was the man’s wife she sent word to the police. Fudge Miller read the law and said that it covered the case squarely. ‘The only difference between this case and most others is that the girl is the man's wife, but that does not give scoundrel any authority to dispose of her as he chooses. COMMITTED FOR THE GRAND JURY. He was held for the aetion of the grand jury, and bail was fixed at $2,000, in default of which met was committed.
