THE EVENING STAR: WASHINGTON, D.C, MONDAY, A GLORIOUS DAY. Easter Sunday Was Fair After a Week's Bad Weather. CROWDS THRONG THE STREETS AND ALL THE CHURCHES HAVE BIG CONGREGATIONS--BRIEF MENTION OF THE EXERCISES IN SOME OF THE ‘MORE PROMINENT CHURCHES It would be hard to imagine s more delight ful Easter Sunday than yesterday was, espe- cially coming, as it did, after such a succession of unpleasant days. The state of the weather was a matter of deep interest to almost every individual in Washington, and early in the morning many 8 one gazed up at the sky to see what its signs of promise were. If it had only been a little bit warmer every feminine heart would bave throbbed a few beats faster in grat- itude, for, as it was, many a spring costume had tobe left inits box by owners who were willing to sacrifice their pleasure to their health. LIVELY APPEARANCE OF THE STREETS. MATIEEW'S. - St. Matthew's Church was filled with wor- shipers ali day. At 11 o'clock solemn high mass was celebrated by Rev. Dr. Bouquillon of the Catholic University, assisted by Rev. The music at vespers was particularly fine. BISHOP KEANE'S SERMON AT ST. PATRICK'S. Bishop Keane of the Catholic University preached the sermon at St. Patrick's Church at the 11 o'clock service, taking for his subject the goepel of the day. calling particular attention o fact that Ti was © woman, Mary Magda- Jone, that, was called as God's mcesenger to ‘an- nounce the resurrection of Christ. At this service, in addition to the sermon, solemn high mass was performed by Kev. J. A. Walter as celebrant, Rev. J.F. McGee as deacon and Father Dolan as subdeacon. The music, under the direction of Sig. Maina, was especially well executed. AT OTHER CATHOLIC CHURCHES. At the Church of the Immaculate Conception high mass was celebrated at 10:30. Haydn's Mass, No. 3, was sung and at the offertory Diabelli’s “Gaudeamus.” AtSt. Aloysius’ the mass was most impressive, Rev. Father Holland being celebrant, Rev. Father Samuel Cahill deacon and Rev. Father Arthur McAvoy subdeacon. Rev. Father Gil- lespie preached the sermon on Christ's resur- Fecuon. At 5: Dominic’s » class of about seventy boys and girls took their first communion. Father Donohan celebrated the mass, Father McFeely officiating as deacon and Father Dur- kin as subdeacon. Father McFeely preached the sermon. At St Augustine's the altar was tastefully decorated, the congregation large and the music of the finest order. Over in Georgetown the service at the Church of the Holy Trinity was shadowed by the fact that the mortal remains of its late pastor, Kev, R. W. Brady, 8. J., were lying under the roof of Georgetown , where he was ordained ‘es priest in 1827. At 1i o'clock Georza’s mass was sung. In the evening the church was raped in mourning for Father Erady’s funeral. EPISCOPAL CHURCH SERVICES. Rev.
