MR. MORTON'S BUST. A New Work of Art to Be Placed in the Senate Chamber. A marble bust of Vice President Morton will soon be added to the number that now adorn the Senate chamber. The bust has arrived in this city and will shortly be put in place. Mr. F. Edwin Elwell of New York city is the sculptor, having been selected by Mr. Morton himself to exeente the work. He has been re- markably successful, and both Mr. and Mrs. Morton have expressed themselves as satisfied with the result. It is said that Mr. Elwell modeled the bust in two sittings of three hours each, and per- haps thix accounts for the spirit and vigor of its handling. It is possible that in time all the busts of the Vice Presidents willbe placed at the foot of the gallery, where they would have a splendid top hight and show to good advantage the character of the men who have occupied the prominent place of Vice President of the United States. In the meantime Mr. Clark, the architect of | the Capitol, intends to remove one of the busts opposite the presiding otficer’s desk, anc in its place will be put the bust of Mr. Morton. ——aa—— FOREIGN TOPICS or INTEREST.
